The Last Dance

2000 - 2004

The beginning of the 21st century saw the dramatic increase in activity of the basal growth. The final assault came with a severe infection which saw Sheilagh being transported to the dreaded hospital, insensible. Over 12 months she had two major operations. She bore them with amazing courage, belying her earlier fears, and we received a bonus of two years of quality time. We laughed, we argued, we talked, then argued some more, and lived as though the world would never end. We ventured out on motor trips and visited the homes of her ancestors in North Wales. I wrote her poetry, cooked, cleaned and I sang her a thousand love songs. The skies were never bluer, the grass was never greener. Golden memories indeed.
